AmaWaterways

AmaWaterways sail the world’s most breath-taking waterways of Europe, Africa and Southeast Asia. There are 23 ships in their fleet, each custom-designed to offer a luxury cruise experience boasting a contemporary décor inspired by the destinations they visit. They also offer extensive amenities; lounges with panoramic views; heated swimming pools and whirlpools; complimentary Wi-Fi on board; and spacious staterooms.  The maximum passenger capacity across the AmaWaterways fleet is 164 passengers – enabling for an intimate gathering of guests, whilst also ensuring there is enough space on board for privacy.

AmaWaterways are the only river cruise line member of the International gastronomic society La Chaine des Rotisseurs. This reflects AmaWaterways high standard of gastronomic excellence across the fleet. Award-winning cuisine is showcased throughout each voyage, not only in the Main Restaurant, but in the intimate Chef’s Table, where you will get the opportunity to watch the chefs prepare your meal.

Entertainment is relatively low-key onboard, but whether it’s traditional Bavarian music, a local quartet or contemporary piano favourites, you will enjoy a schedule of onboard entertainment every night.

AmaWaterways have developed a programme of shore excursions in every port of call. In each destination you’ll find several options to choose all of which are included in your cruise fare:

  • City Tours – There’s always a city tour designed to show you all the renowned highlights and landmarks in grand capitals and charming villages.
  • Limited Edition Tours – These tours are specially designed to give small groups the chance to be even more immersed in a destination, such as visiting a bratwurst and beer tasting at the oldest brewery in Nuremberg; or Indulging in authentic Belgian waffles and chocolate in Antwerp.
  • Guided Bike Tours – AmaWaterways were the first river cruise line to carry an entire fleet of complimentary bicycles on board! They offer you the option of exploring Europe’s amazing sights like the locals do.
  • Guided Hiking Tours – These tours are designed to take you off the beaten track – for example, one of their tours involves hiking up the Philosopher’s Path to a panoramic view of Heidelberg and the Necker River.

Choose your pace: In many cases, you’ll have a choice of gentle, regular and active tour paces. There are even some options for late risers.

2019 has been a remarkable year for AmaWaterways with three new ships joining the fleet, including AmaMagna, offering a new dimension in river cruising along the legendary Danube. AmaMagna is twice the width of traditional European river ships offering staterooms that are reminiscent of those on ocean ships. With five bars, four unique restaurants – including the new Al Fresco restaurant and Jimmy’s, a warm family-style venue – a heated sun-deck pool and whirlpool, AmaMagna has become one of the most innovative river ship yet.
